7.0 VISA Information

An F-1 Visa is given to students who have been accepted for entrance into an academic institution in United States. You will have to appear at the nearest US Consulate for VISA. You will have to carry your VISA application form, VISA fee, I -20, all original academic documents, original GRE/GMAT and TOEFL reports along with a financial statement. Tips:

It is advisable to consult a charted accountant or a VISA consultant to prepare a correct and acceptable financial documents for VISA. Unofficial sources claim that some 1 in 20 VISA applications are rejected because of improper financial documentation.

Note:

1. With an I-20 document from the admitted university, the student can appear for VISA only 90 days prior to the start of classes and not before that.

2. Current rules are such that, if a student's VISA is rejected he/she can appear in person any number of times. There should be a gap of 3 business days between each appearance.
